Our Programs

The PRISM Project plans to set and achieve a global standard of excellence in K-12 math and science education in support of economic development throughout the Florida High Tech Corridor through the following activities:

Supporting and training teachers by (1) recognizing best teachers on a regional basis, who will then conduct best practice seminars for their colleagues; (2) identifying and evaluating programs in support of hiring, retaining, training, and motivating teachers; (3) working with local businesses and industries to secure year-round employment dedicated to job related career education for teachers of science and math; and (4) establishing a "Clearing House" for selected volunteers who wish to serve as math and science mentors for teachers or guest presenters and managing it through the PRISM website.

Inspiring students by (1) promoting participation in math and science competitions; and (2) instituting a PRISM student scholar program designed to create interest and participation by students in math and science as early as sixth grade.

Enhancing curriculum by (1) surveying businesses and higher education institutions to identify math and science curriculum development ideas; (2) identifying and benchmarking "state of the art" math and science programs and best teaching practices; and (3) leveraging technology by supporting selective promising pilot programs using existing software and web-based platforms for teaching math and science.

Expanding funding opportunities by cataloging and evaluating national, regional, and local foundations and government programs funding math and science education.
